ACC Splits With SVSU
For the second straight year, the Alpena Community College baseball team recorded a fall baseball victory over Division 2 Saginaw Valley State University with a 10-7 win in game two of a doubleheader in Saginaw. The Cardinals won game 1, 11-2 as the two squads split in the twinbill.
In the opener, Aiden Bishop had three of ACC's five hits, including a triple. Jake Zann and Marcus Castellon had the other Lumberjack hits.
ACC banged out 12 hits in the finale, led by Maxwell McCarty's three hits, including a double. McCarty also scored two runs. Bishop posted another hit, scored twice and had two RBI.
Evan Fairbanks was 2 for 3 with a run scored and RBI. Zach Fletcher stole two bases and scored twice. Zann had his third hit on the day and knocked in two runs.
Nate Koster doubled and Jonny Rensberry had an RBI single.
Jacob Brohl picked up the win in relief, throwing two innings, giving up one run on one hit. Castellon started and struck out three in three no-hit innings.
