ACC Loses Close Game
Derian Williams put on a show, scoring 35 points in the game, 22 in the second half, but it wasn't enough as ACC lost at Gogebic Community College, 86-79.
The game was closer than the final score indicated as the Lumberjacks trailed only 72-70 with four minutes left to go.
ACC had trailed by as many as 17 in the first half, at 32-15 and by 13 in the second half, 63-50 with 11:48 remaining.
A 19-7 run by the Lumberjacks over the next seven minutes, trimmed the lead to one at 70-69 after Keyondre Gamez hit a three with 4:42 to play. ACC could never get over the hump and grab the lead.
With the win, the Samsons upped their record to 5-2 while the Jacks fell to 1-5. Gogebic led at the half, 38-33.
Chas Stanek had 16 points and nine rebounds. Keyondre Gamez scored 10 points. Robert Williams contributed seven points and 10 rebounds. Nick Fileccia came off the bench to add six points and 10 rebounds.
ACC travels to Mott Community College to play in the Roundball Classic against the host Bears (5-3) on Saturday, Dec. 21 preceded by a game against Lakeland (Ohio) Community College (5-3) on Friday, Dec. 20.
