Montcalm Fights Off ACC Comeback to Win, 64-54
It was a cold day outside and cold shooting as Montcalm Community College edged Alpena CC, 64-54. Montcalm shot only 36.7% from the field, 30% from three, but the Lumberjacks were even colder, shooting 28.3% and 20.6% from those ranges respectively.
The Centurions led 33-23 at the half, and by as many as 13 in the second half, but ACC got to within three twice, at 55-52 and 57-54 but couldn't get over the hump.
The final score was misleading as the game was closer than indicated, as the Jacks were forced to foul down the stretch and Montcalm went six for six from the line to close out the win.
Robert Williams led ACC with 18 points and six rebounds. Derian Williams scored 11. Jadin Mix had eight points and three steals.
On Wednesday, Feb. 19, North Central Michigan College (1-24 overall, 1-10 conference) visits Alpena to play the Lumberjacks (2-18, 1-10).
