Cross Country With Middle of Pack Start to Season
ACC cross country opened the 2024 season with a solid performance in the Skipper Invite in Port Huron.
The Lumberjacks finished 9th out of 16 teams. Host St. Clair County Community College finished first in the event.
Freshman Ryan Allen was the top ACC runner. His time of 28:46 is the 16th all-time 8k time in school history. He finished 9th overall in the race.
Chip Allen (31:16) was 46th, Carter Upper (31:32) was 52nd, Ty Kailing (31:45) was 55th.
"Our top four guys so far are solid and where we need them to be," coach Mark Jacobs said. "It's going to be a fun season watching these guys improve and us move up in the standings. Our focus is the regional meet where it counts."
Dante Gray, Calvin Hibbler and Benedikt Purat also competed for ACC.
The team is back on the road next weekend, running at Ferris State University on Saturday, Sept. 7.
