Softball Picks Up Road Split
ACC split two close games in Grand Rapids against Grace Christian, losing 1-0 and rebounding with a 5-4 win.
In the opener, Taylor Krentz threw a gem for the Lumberjacks, striking out six in six innings and allowing only three hits and no walks. The winning run scored for Grace on a successful squeeze bunt in the bottom of the fourth.
Femke Van Elsacker had two hits to lead the hitters.
Krentz starred in game two also as she was the winning pitcher, striking out one and walking none en route to the complete game win. She also drove in the winning run in the top of the 7th as she hit into a fielder's choice plating Abigail Platt who had reached on an error and moved to third on a key double by Olivia Leland.
Rhea Amrich also had a big game for the Jacks hitting a double and scoring in the 3rd and hitting a two-run single to give ACC a 4-3 lead in the 4th. She also had a hit in game one.
Leland had two hits. Platt scored two runs.
ACC (3-20) hosts Muskegon Community College on Friday and Saturday to close out the MCCAA Northern Conference schedule.
