ACC Picks Up Conference Win
In a seesaw battle at Park Arena, the ACC women's basketball team pulled off a 59-56 win over Montcalm Community College.
The Lumberjacks led by as many as nine in the first half, at 24-15 with 4:04 to go in the second quarter. Montcalm battled back to cut the lead to 28-25 at halftime.
The Centurions then outscored the Jacks, 10-5 to take a 35-33 advantage. In all, the second half had nine ties and eight lead changes.
After a Montcalm three with 1:15 to go staked them to a 56-53 lead, Jena Wambold had an offensive rebound, two steals and four made free throws to key the victory. Montcalm missed a long three-point attempt at the buzzer.
Saige Flaugher led all scorers with 26 points. She also had three rebounds and four steals. Wambold finished with 14 points, three steals and two assists. Anna Herbolsheimer had eight points and four rebounds. Allison Cece had eight rebounds while Kenna Tippman and Abby Platt each finished with five.
ACC (3-16 overall, 2-9 conference) hosts North Central Michigan College (4-21, 3-8) on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
