ACC Improves Against Tough Foes
The progress continued for the ACC volleyball team this weekend against the top two teams in the MCCAA Northern Confernce, but the wins did not follow this weekend as the Lumberjacks lost at home to Grand Rapids Community College (8-2 overall, 5-0 conference) , 25-10, 25-23, 25-12 and to Muskegon Community College (9-6, 4-1), 25-21, 25-12 and 25-20.
"We played well against a top contender in the league (in Muskegon), ACC coach Courtney Holmes said after Saturday's match. "I was happy with that! I feel like we turned a corner."
In the Grand Rapids match, Raquelle Miller had six kills. Lillian Adams also had six kills and four assists. Madelyn Dipzinski tallied 11 assists.
Against Muskegon, Miller again had six kills. Dipzinski contributed 12 assists and eight digs. Olivia Precord served three service aces, and added four assists and seven digs. Sydney Hitzelberger made 12 digs. Adams had a fine all-around match with five kills, six assists and six digs. Brooklyn Latuszek also contributed six kills.
ACC (0-7, 0-4) travels to Escanaba to take on Bay Community College (3-12, 1-4) on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
