LUMBERJACKS WIN!!!
Volleyball wins big over Bay
In front of a large home crowd at Park Arena, the ACC volleyball team did not disappoint, defeating Bay College, 25-15, 25-22, 27-29, 25-21.
"I think tonight was the best we have played so far this season," Lumberjacks coach Courtney Holmes said after the match. "We finally saw our team gel and work as a cohesive unit. We knew that once we were able to find our chemistry the rest would fall into place. We played a complete game. We were so strong defensively with a much better blocking presence to accompany an already solid digging presence. And we elevated our offensive attack to round things out."
Sophomore Lillian Adams playing in her last home match, was "awesome" in the words of Holmes, and tallied 11 kills, 13 digs, three blocks and three aces.
Sophomore Maddie Dipzinski also was key with 28 assists, nine digs and two aces.
Raquelle Miller was stellar up front with seven kills and five blocks and also added 11 digs. Brooklyn Latuszek had four kills, nine digs and three aces. Sydney Hitzelberger had 14 digs.
Olivia Precord contritubed 16 digs and four kills while Kirsten Neubecker tallied eight kills and three blocks.
The night featured a sophomore night ceremony to honor Adams, Dipzinski and Gracie Hart, who is out for the remainder of the season with an injury and was on crutches.
"We were focused on sending our sophomores out on a high note," Holmes commented. "They have given so much to this program over the last two years and we wanted to make sure we honored them on their final night in Park Arena."
ACC (1-12 overall, 1-9 conference) has a tough weekend trip to close out the season, playing at conference leader Grand Rapids Community College (17-2, 10-0) on Friday, Oct. 25 and at Muskegon Community College (14-12, 6-4) on Saturday.
