ACC Stays Hot on Court
After a sluggish start to the season, Alpena Community College has put together an impressive streak, winning three of their last four volleyball matches. The latest to fall was Montcalm Community College who lost to ACC by scores of 25-17, 18-25, 25-21 and 26-24.
"I'm proud of our athletes for battling in a back and forth match all night," coach Courtney Holmes said. "We gutted out a win that will help build momentum as we finish out our season."
The Lumberjacks jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead in game one and held off the pesky Centurions.
Alivia Freel had a fantastic night tallying 12 kills, three blocks and four aces. Rocky Miller contributed 12 kills and added 15 digs. Maddi Sladek led all servers with six aces and racked up 30 assists. Paiglee Moldenhauer chipped in 16 digs.
"This was a great team win where every coach and player contributed," Holmes said.
ACC (4-12 overall, 2-6 conference) hosts Delta College on Monday, Oct. 20 at 6:30 pm. The game will be the Pink Game with the gate proceeds and other fundraisers to go to support Friends Together.
